Objective of the Diploma:
The main objective of the Diploma is to develop in veterinary professionals an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of advanced endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery techniques in small animals, effectively and safely addressing pathologies of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, abdominal cavity, thorax, and joints. Under the guidance of internationally recognized speakers, this program promotes high-quality clinical care and patient well-being, building a solid foundation for its application in daily professional practice.
Specific Objectives

Founding Partner, Co-Director, and Head of the Surgery Service at Auna Veterinary Specialties - IVC Evidensia – Valencia (Spain).

A native of Malaga, he holds a degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Córdoba (class of 1994-1999).

In 2004, he was the first Spaniard to obtain and complete a residency from the European College of Surgery to obtain this specialty. He holds a European Specialist (Dipl. E.C.V.S. - European College of Veterinary Surgeons) and a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) in Small Animal Surgery.

He spent 15 years training abroad, between France and the United Kingdom. He completed his post-university surgical training in France for 8 years: École Nationale Vétérinaire de Nantes and de Lyon, where he completed 1 year of general internship and 2 years of surgical internship, and his official 3-year ECVS residency, 20 years ago, at a private hospital in Paris, “Centre Hospitalier Vétérinaire Frégis”.

He spent 15 years training abroad, between France and the United Kingdom. He completed his post-university surgical training in France for eight years: at the École Nationale Vétérinaire in Nantes and Lyon, where he completed one year of general internship and two years of surgical internship, and his official three-year residency at the ECVS (2004-2007) at the Centre Hospitalier Vétérinaire Frégis, a private hospital in Paris. In 2007, he moved to England where he spent seven years working as a specialist surgeon at two leading hospitals: the Animal Health Trust and Davies Veterinary Specialists.

He is a frequent speaker at post-university training courses and national and international conferences (an average of 250 hours of lectures per year), author of book chapters, and numerous national and international publications. He is also an official editor for international journals such as Veterinary Surgery, Veterinary Record, JAVMA (Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association), Veterinary Medicine Austria, JFMS (Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery), JSAP (Journal of Small Animal Practice), and the Canadian Veterinary Journal. His areas of interest are surgical oncology, minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, arthroscopy), cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, hepatic surgery, reconstructive surgery, respiratory surgery including brachycephalic syndrome, complex traumatology, and spinal surgery.

Since July 2013, Manuel returned to Spain and has been working independently, collaborating with various private and university hospitals as a consultant in surgery (soft tissue, traumatology-orthopedics, and neurosurgery). In August 2015, together with his three partners, they opened the multidisciplinary referral hospital "Aúna Especialidades Veterinarias" in Valencia. The hospital has over 75 staff members and is the hospital in Spain with the largest number of specialists. Manuel is a founding partner, co-director, and head of the surgery department.
